I always dreamed about travelling to Scotland. Scottish people seem so nice, Scottish landscapes look so beautiful that every time I was watching some pictures presenting them or films, in which those beautiful sceneries made a background, I couldn’t help considering such travel. Finally, I turned my computer on and I connected to the Internet in order to find a way to get there – to the land, in which people are kind and polite, to the land where even green grass makes an impression and to the land, where the weather is unpredictable.
I found out that even though Scotland is so far away, it is possible to get there by car! The problem, however, was that I did not have a car…That is why I was forced to start looking for some cheap flights in order to make my dream come true. And after several minutes I found comfortable connections from my place to Aberdeen – one of the most important cities in Scotland. I did not hesitate – I said to myself that such a chance can be one and the only and I must take it! So I took it and I booked tickets and started to pack the most necessary things. Camera, one pair of comfortable shoes, cosmetics and a raincoat, which is needed while travelling to Scotland, believe me since I know it from my own experiences.
Finally, the day of my travel came so I was very excited. Once again I reviewed my luggage and it was high time to leave. I planned my trip very carefully and I even found a person, who offered me a room totally for free! I found her via the Internet. Thanks God for the couch surfing! When I arrived in the Aberdeen, I was taken by my friend from the airport and we went to eat something since I was really hungry! I felt very excited since it was the first time I had a chance to try haggis – traditional Scottish meal consisted of sheep’s pluck. Sounds horrible, but I have to admit that it tastes very well. Because of the fact that I was tired after the journey, we came home. My friend showed me my room. We drunk a little bit of real, Scottish whiskey, which is quite strong for me, and I went to sleep in order to wake up very early and start sightseeing.
First of all, we went to see those famous buildings made of graphite. Maybe you don’t know that majority of buildings in Aberdeen are made of this particular material and it is one of the most characteristic features of the city. Moreover, it is the third biggest city in Scotland so I knew that it is impossible to see everything within those several days, but I wanted to try to see as much as I could. That is why later on me and my new friend went to see some museums including a big part of Scottish history. I have also seen the most beautiful, but at the same time the most scary castles. I have never seen any castle, but those, which I saw in Scotland are certainly the best ones. I would be not surprised if some famous directors wanted to use those castles to make a horror movie. Those places are ideal for that purpose! I am glad that we were visiting those castles during the day since during night I would be frightened for sure.
I planned my travel to Scotland carefully, as I said a little bit earlier, and that is why I knew that Scotland is famous for its lakes. I asked my friend if we could see at least one of them and we went to see the Loch of Muick. I must say that it made a huge impression on me and if I have a chance, I will certainly see the other famous lakes! I would like to look for the monster living in Loch Ness – that would be an adventure! One day we also went to the Storybook Glen. It is a park mainly for children, full of attractions and magic. It is nice come back to childhood sometimes.
My travel to Scotland lasted several days only, but it was incredible and I will come back there for sure! Big thanks to owners of Ardgartan Hotel for best reception ever J
